You can add Jo Walton to the list of Baen’s Universe authors…

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

We just received an absolutely hysterical story from Jo Walton, entitled “What Would Sam Spade Do?”

We’re buying it.

I somehow never figured Jo Walton for a story like this. It was so funny I almost couldn’t finish it.

New LogoOur publisher and his art director have been slaving away, striving to get JUST the right feel, just the right sense of pulpishness and modernity.

News and business

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

Rick, your friendly neighborhood geek here.

The first delivery of webscriptions and e-arcs to Universe Club members has occurred. If you haven’t claimed any of your benefits yet, and want to, just email members@baensuniverse.com with your request and we’ll get you set right up.

We’re ready to accept tuckerization requests too. Universe Club members who join after February 10, 2006 will have fewer tuckerization benefits than the first crop of early adopters. David Weber is a very popular author! Again, Saturn class members and higher simply email your tuckerization requests to members@baensuniverse.com, and we’ll see to it that your requests reach the right parties.

If you missed it on the bar, Eric recently clarified third-party tuckerization issues. We’ve had a request for a son, and a recently deceased mother as third-party requests. No problem. We’re happy to take those from people who reasonably have the right to make such a request. If there’s any issue, we’ll ask for the person being “gifted” to contact us.

Thanks for believing in us, and joining the Universe family. Watch this space. Cool new additional stuff is going to be announced here soon. In the mean time, remember: Just Say No to DRM!
